Keeping a clean house is important. Everything must be organized and kept in its proper storage boxes or cabinets. Especially for clothes, you must separate the clean baby clothes from the dirty ones. If not, you might get confused and reuse the clothes, which are not that heavily stained.
On the other hand, you can ask the help of your family in organizing and separating clean clothes from the dirty ones. Have a designated dirty clothes bin in every family member’s room including the bathroom. It could be a sack, bucket or a plate. Label it with the name of your family member. This dirty clothes bin will be make it easier for you to collect their clothes during laundry day. Depending on your preference, you can have two clothes bin (separate the whites and colored) or just one.
Remind your partner and your children to put their dirty clothes in the bin. Do not let them scatter their used shirts and pants on their bedroom floor, on chairs, on the bathroom rack or under the bed. Include this in the house rules. Set punishments for those who fail to obey like being responsible for their own laundry; or, their clothes would not be laundered until the next laundry day and others. This would help your family take more responsibility with their clothes as well as maintain a clean bedroom.
The best time to teach your kids about taking responsibility for their dirty clothes is when they’re still very young. Teach them how to put away their used up cloth diapers or underwear. Let them watch you change your clothes and put the dirty ones in the bin. Let them join you as you separate the whites and the colored shirts during laundry day. You can also let your toddler help you by letting them sort their own clothes.
Certainly, teaching your family on how to organize and separate their clothes helps in lessening the burden of laundry day.
