Tide Free & Gentle Liquid Detergent VS Selestial Soap Natural Laundry Detergent

180/365: Her Wardrobe Is ReadyWhen it comes to hypoallergenic baby detergents, Tide Free & Gentle Liquid Detergent and Selestial Soap Natural Laundry Detergent are two of the most popular brands among moms. Not only are these products gentle on baby skin; but also, they are economical. If you want a good replacement for Dreft, or a good eco-friendly detergent that does not hurt your budget, these are the products for you.

Tide Free & Gentle Liquid Detergent is as fragrant as Dreft but is much less expensive. This is a more practical option for mothers who want sweet smelling baby clothes. It is a highly concentrated detergent. It also makes clothes rather soft and very comfortable to wear. You don’t need to throw in some fabric softener sheets in the washer, which can save you a few bucks.

However, there are ingredients in Tide Free & Gentle Liquid Detergent that you might want to reconsider first before using. This product contains chemical ingredients that may be hazardous especially if your child has a really sensitive skin.

On the other hand, Selestial Soap Natural Laundry Detergent is a non-toxic product that gets rid of stains using natural ingredients. This detergent may be gentle on your baby’s skin and on Mother Nature yet it can take out all sorts of dirt and odor like your typical detergent.

As the advocacy regarding the use of non-toxic green products emerge, more mothers are actually making the switch from using conventional detergents to eco-friendly products. I, myself, am an advocate for green cleaning.

Selestial is one of my favorite natural detergents next to Seventh Generation and Mountain Green. This product is non-sudsing, which means that there are no residues. It is safe to use in High Efficiency (HE) Washers and could be washed with cold water.
Nevertheless, babies have different skin reactions towards detergents and its contents. Try switching brands from time to time to determine which brand works well for your baby.

Note: BabyDetergents.com is an online web blog that publishes first hand experience product reviews, wherein Colleen Gossett (author) has personally purchased the product. All products reviewed were items brought INDEPENDENTLY.  Otherwise, it will be noted at the footer.
